The Indian men’s cricket team will be on the road to face South Africa in a four-match T20 series starting from Friday.

Live streaming and live telecast of all four IND vs SA T20 matches will be available in India.

Durban’s Kingsmead will host the first India vs South Africa T20 cricket match on Friday while the second is scheduled at St George's Park in Gqebera on Sunday. The third and final matches will be held at the Centurion and Wanderers in Johannesburg, respectively, next week.

Interestingly, the two teams last faced off in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown in June with India winning the thrilling contest by seven runs.

For the South African cricket team, led by Aiden Markram, the upcoming home series will be an opportunity to soothe the heartbreak of the wrenching loss at Bridgetown.

India, meanwhile, will have their own axe to grind. Following the retirement of experienced campaigners like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja from the T20 format following this year’s World Cup, India are in a rebuilding phase.

The South Africa tour will be a good opportunity for a young unit led by India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav to stake their claim in the core group going forward.

In fact, the touring Indian squad for the South Africa tour features only four members - Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel - from the T20 World Cup-winning team.

Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, won’t be travelling to South Africa either and VVS Laxman has been named as the stand-in coach for the tour.

Gambhir is expected to leave for Australia to prepare for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy following India’s disappointing 3-0 thrashing against New Zealand in the recently-concluded Test series on home soil.

Pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who impressed in his debut series against Bangladesh, is also out of the squad with an injury. Shivam Dube is missing due to the same reason.

South Africa, coached by Rob Walker, will also be without key players like Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi and Quinton de Kock in the series.

India are currently at the top of the ICC Men’s T20 Team Rankings while South Africa are sixth.
